About Us

I have been a reader my entire life, there wasn’t a time in school when I didn’t have a book with me. As I grew up,  I got so busy with life and stopped making time for that love. However, when the world shut down due to COVID-19, I suddenly had a lot more free time. It was during this time that I fell in love with reading all over again with the help of TikTok, of all things. Finding people who loved reading as much as I used to, I decided to pick up one of the books that was recommended to me, and I haven’t looked back since.

It was after a visit to Kansas to meet my internet friends Shlee, Laramie, Kelsey, and Derek, that I decided to make my passion into a life goal. Flying solo for the first time was scary even for a 30 year old, so after that trip, I realized that I was capable of doing scary things. Two weeks after returning home, I applied to NBCC's Business Fundamentals program.

Going back to school at 31 was also something that scared me, but it was such a great experience. My classmates and teachers were so wonderful and I learned a lot about the business world and even more about myself. 

Here I am now, a 32 year old woman about to embark on the scariest thing I've ever done, and I couldn't be happier. I know that to some, it may seem silly to open a bookstore in the highly digital world we live in, but I fully believe that bookstores are a community staple and one that Carleton County is missing.
